 Al Dent was the best chef in the city, known far and wide for his impeccable taste and unrivaled skill. But this skill was a curse as well as a blessing, because it attracted attention and jealousy from his competition. In an attempt on his life, an assassin switched out his delicious Marinara sauce for acid; Dent discovered it before it killed him, but not before it destroyed half his teeth, disfiguring them horribly, severely impairing his ability to bite, and causing him to lose his mind. Now, years later, he controls organized crime in the city; Al Dent is no more, there is only Chew-Face.
